Compliments to those wine makers who share their knowledge

Not to mention all of the great friends we meet here! I have gotten more useful information here than anywhere. It's great getting different info from different people's experiences.

    Adventures in Winemaking

Hi Everyone! I know it has still been ages since I have posted, but it has been a busy year. I just spent the entire weekend cleaning just about every single piece of winemaking equipment I own, and racking about 100 gallons of wine this weekend. These wines have been pretty neglected lately...

    Hello again!

That can't ALL be mine! I guess I better stop ordering from Amazon after drinking all that skeeter!

    Hello again!

LOL, I'll be sure to grab them my next time in! I'm sure that they will make for some interesting wall art in the new apartment! ;-)

    Undrinkable Sauv Blanc

I had a batch of Sauv Blanc I made a few years ago, thought it tasted awful but never got around to emptying them and cleaning out the bottles, so they hung out on the rack for a year. I'm glad I never did because they really came around, the funky flavor it had more or less disappeared. I say...

    Hello again!

Hi All! Long time no see, just wanted to check in. I haven't been very active in the forum lately, but have had a roller coaster of events happening in my life lately, unfortunately mostly bad with a few good that have helped make up for it. I'm hoping that as the dust settles I'll be able to...

    What R you doing today?

It's been a BUSY couple of weeks! Last week got to spend a few days up in PA/NY with Mikael. While visiting, got my very first Tattoo! I'll be taking pictures later and can post. We met up with DJRockinSteve for lunch and a trip to Walker's last Tuesday. While out there, we stopped by...

    Chocolate Strawberry Port

Wow! 9 gallons? That is more like a triple batch! It will drop a lot of sediment though. Mine wasn't quite that milky in color, a little more red. But I'm sure it makes a difference with the ingredients you use (the type of cocoa powder, etc.). It will be awesome once it's done and aged!

    What R you doing today?

Racked a few more wines, also ordered my grapes! I decided not to get anything too exotic, went with Cab Sauv and Chardonnay (I'm going to try battonage on it). I also noticed on Walker's website that they are opening Sept 20th, so I'm planning a road trip for the end of September to get some...

    What R you doing today?

Things have been crazy for me lately, but I got out of work early today (with my supervisor's blessing even!), so I'm finally going to keg 3 gallons of my Apfelwein, and bottle the other 2 gallons leaving it uncarbonated. I'm also hoping to be able to rack my Cranberry, strawberry and Chocolate...

    Honey price

Around here, local honey costs about $8-$9 per pound, you can get it for much cheaper at Walmart or other grocery stores, but like fatbloke said, you get what you pay for. I tend to use about 2-3 pounds per gallon, but I know that this is really high, it'll make a stronger, sweeter mead.

Getting ready for the lay offs

So my last day at my current agency is September 18th. I've been to a few job interviews, I got a job offer from one agency and am just waiting to hear back from another to make a decision. Work has been chaotic, I'm glad I had last week off! The next 3 1/2 weeks are going to be a zoo...

    What R you doing today?

Spending the day unpacking, laundry etc. I was up at my family's camp for the past week. My favorite place in the world! No phone. no internet, no tv or cell phone. Just you, the lake, the cabin and a lot of woods! It was very relaxing, something I needed! Now back to work Monday, where...

    What R you doing today?

Out couch shopping this weekend.......our cat decided to violate all three of them. He is now a cellar dweller until we can figure out what to do with him and how to stop the behavior!

    What R you doing today?

I had 2 job interviews, one yesterday and one today. One of them I won't hear from for a few weeks, the other one I'm hoping to hear from sooner. It would be very nice to have something lined up so that I can start a week or two after the lay offs from my current job! Aside from the job...
