    Valiant grape

    We were wondering if there is a recipe for the Valiant grape. We picked 30 lbs. of grapes of our vine. We are using the steamer/extracter to get the juice. Would like to try and make some wine from the juice.

    RJ Spagnols Sangria with Seville Orange

    I used my birthday discount and ordered up the Orchard Breezin Sangria with Seville Orange. Has anyone tried this or have any comments. It just sounded good. This will be our 1st RJ Spagnols kit. Thanks!

    1st Bottling

    We will be doing our 1st bottling tomorrow. It is the Vintner's Reserve Barolo and has been bulk aging in the basement for 3 months. Should we add 1/4 tsp of k-meta to it? I was going to rack it into a fermenter so I can bottle by using a spigot and bottle filler.

    Sugar

    We are going to start our Black Currant wine, probably next weekend. The 5 gallon recipe calls for 12#'s of white table sugar. Is there an easy way to dissolve this much at once? Big pot, individual batches? Or just mix it in and stir till it's all dissolved, I'm open for suggestions.

    Which yeast?

    We are going to start the Black Currant wine. The recipe calls for Red Star Premier Cuvee yeast. I purchased Lalvin 71B-1122. They seem to be similar, is it ok to use the Lalvin and not the Red Star?

    I am sitting here making up a wish list for needed items. What size fermentation bag would a person use on a country wine like strawberry or rasberry. I see they havedifferent sizes and course and fine. What do you recommend? Thanks.

    Primary fill level

    We received our 2nd kit today along with some extra accessories. One of which is another primary with a spigot. We put 23 liters of water in it and the water level is approx. 1" below the mark on the fermenter. What does everyone go by? Both of our fermenters come out to about the same level.

    another new northern MN wine maker

    I got a wine expert vintners reserve Borolo style kit and some equipment for Christmas. We started it up this morning and am excited to see what happens! This site has been very helpful. Thanks to you all for the great hints and tips.
