...I just walked out to get the mail and my 2 tickets for State Fair
arrived...you get them when you enter wine. I was going to ignore
the accompanying letter because you always get one when with your
tickets and the letter normally says, "Thank you for entering ...blah,
blah, blah" but the first line of it says, "Congratulations! Your wine
has won an award in the 2006 New York State Fair Home Wine
Competition!!!!

Yeeeeeehaaaaa!!!!

I
am sooooooooooooo excited!!!!! I entered 2 bottles -- Winexpert's Riesling and Pinot Noir (Yes, Sang, Pinot Noir!!!) but I don't know which
one won. OMG!! both could have! That would be waaay too good to be
true!!! I have to wait until Wednesday at 6 pm to find out if it's
a bronze, silver or gold medal!

Stinkie, sorry... I spoke too soon....it looks like the Big E wine competition is for commercial wineries.

Does anyone know of a listing of when and where wine competitions will
be held, I live in Conn. and I searched the Internet for listings but
could not find any near me. Maybe I'm just no good at searching or
maybe theres just none near me.

probably give you any info on local competition

Our state fair is 300 miles from here and I've been once since 1983. Poor Bert is usually working at this time of year and farmers don't seem to feel the need to let the help off from work for a weekend so they can go to the State Fair, which is based on agriculture...
I may have to break down and ship a bottle of wine down there next year.
