"Non-chamfered with agglomerated cork center and natural cork disk ends" seems to be the standard that most wine shops sell, does anybody use solid corks for their good wine? bk

Nope! I use exactly what you mentioned first for all of my wines. I buy a bag of 1000 at a time for home use.

Dan,

How long do your wines last?

That's exactly the problem, after I'm long gone it would be too bad to hear them say, "why didn't that cheap SOB use good corks"? Actually I'm always impressed when I pull a 2" long straight grain beautiful cork out of a good bottle of wine. bk
