I have a question that I have not found an answer to: if you don't have an extra glass carboy, can you or should you use a primary fermenter(HDPE #2 bucket) to do your secondary fermentation in? Just curious about this. Didn't want to ruin good wine if it is not a good idea. Thanks for any suggestions and help.

Once the wine has finished fermenting you really need to get it into glass or a BB to minimize the air space.

I concur especially with a white or light colored fruit wine as it will oxidize and brown fast. Reds ill do the same but wont be as visually ugly.

Me too!. I would not trust buckets for anything but primaries. When I make BEER same thing transfer right to a glass or BB carboy.
