I started a WE Liebframilch and followed all the instructions through the first racking to the carboy. Everything appeared to doing fine. The SG at the transfer was 1.004 and 76 dgrees. It is now at SG 1.000 and 74 degrees 2 weeks later with no change.

My question is this? Can I go to the next step of stabilizing and clearing or do I need to something to get the SG to the recommended .996 or less?

Thanks for your help.

To be safe, I would wait at least another week or two. Check it again and you may find it has dropped a bit more. If not, go on to the next steps at that time. It's that patience thing!

Just wondering have you calibrated your hydrometer in plain water?

Just checked the hydrometer in water. It was 1.000. I guess that's what it is supposed to be. I will just wait a few days and recheck it. If no movement I will stabalize and clear.

Thanks for the suggestion.

If it is not below 1.000 by next week, give me a call and I will see about a replacment kit. Sometimes WE kits have this problem.
