Does that article contain accurate information? In the beginning they state that some wine makers switch from cork to plastic closure to save trees. I thought cork trees supplied the cork bark but it didn't kill the tree; that it was a renewable and natural resource.

My guess is that the paper crap reduces overall expense to the winery and that is the real reason they're exploring it. Now if they come out and say "we're switching to paper cuz it's cheaper" that doesn't sound as good as "we're doing this to save the world".
 
I will keep my eyes open for this and report back if I find one.
 
Shipping costs....glass bottles weigh more and cost a lot more to ship, especially when shipped empty to the winery.
