Where the heck are you???

I'm on the summit of Mt. Tongariro on the North Island of New Zealand. The volcano in the background is Mt. Ngaruhoe (aka Mt. Doom for any Lord of the Rings fans). I spent 3 days tramping around active volcanos. It was spectacular.


I also spent quite a bit of time in the wine country on the South Island.

Well, it was an expedition to gather some of the rare alpine Whakapapa grapes which can only be found growing in the sulfur-rich Rangipo gravel fields on the….. uh….. oh never mind!
