Hi there! The hubby, Marc, and I have been bugged by a friend of ours to start making wine and this fall we finally did. Since we don't do anything half way, we have a WE Lodi Old Vine Zin in the carboy, an RJ Spagnols Cru Select French Merlot just racked to the carboy yesterday and we also started an RJ Spagnols EN Primeur Cabernet Sauvignon in the primary. Our beagle has been very helpful in cleaning up any juice drops that find their way to the floor, Hunter Blue is not big on finished wine though.

Welcome Nadine, you have some really good wines there and thats what I really like to see, just make sure you give them a little time to mature and you wont believe what quality wines you can make. Glad to have you aboard and hope you stay with us and keep us posted on these 3 gems.

Welcome to the forum Nadine
I have quite a fond memory of your city as 6 years ago, my wife and I were coming out to Tahoe to celebrate our anniversary. I had reservations for the week at the Hilton and they called me the day before we were to leave and advised that due to a glitch in their reservations system, they did not have our room that I had reserved but they had found me a comprable room at the Eldorado Hotel & casino and since it was their error they were going to pick up the tab for our room for the week. We arrived on a Friday evening, got checked in and while waiting on my wife to get ready to go to dinner I wen down to the casino, just looking around and started playing what I thought was aTriple Diamond 50 cent slot. I had put a 20.00 bill in it to begin with and had hit it a couple of times and was up about 30.00 when I hit the jackpot. It turned out it was a Triple/Triple Diamond machine and my jackpot was worth over $3,000.00. A gentleman cam over and introduced himself as the slot Manager and inquired if I was one of their Gold club members. I explained to him that my wife and I had just checked in and were out there to celebrate our anniversary. He then told me that he thought he might be able to get our room comped for us with that jackpot. I told him about how we had ended up there and that our room was alreay taken care of. He then took me to his office, signed me up as a Gold Club member and gave me 6 comp coupons that he explained would be good for any restaurant in the Reno/Tahoe area and would cover everyhing but gratuity. Her fiurther advised that whatever restaurant we chose that I was to present this ooupon immediately upon arrival to the maitre d' and we would be immediately seatd at a good table.....What a trip to remember...And no....I did not lose any of my winnings. I only played one more time while we were there and that was at a Blackjack table. I left it after playing for about 30 minutes and winning another 10.00.

Welcome to the both of you. No story here like Waldo, just a nice warm welcome to the forum. Stay a while and learn with the rest of us!

Hello marcnadine and welcome! You've got some great kits going there. Please let us know how they turn out. Remember we like pictures. And if you're impatient like me you may want to join the "Wine aging support group"

Seems like most of the conferences I attend are held in Reno these days. Nice city. And the El Dorado is very nice too, but I've never had an experience like Waldo's. WTG Waldo!

Thanks all! I'll get some pictures up later this week. We will be bulk aging in the carboys for quite a while to help us be patient with the wines. Our friends that talked us into starting to make some wines we will be here for Thanksgiving so we'll need to start another batch around then. So many kits so few carboys!!!! We're debating between an Amarone, a SuperTuscan or a port even. We like tawny ports though and most of the kits seem to be more ruby. We'll see what we decide in the next week or two.

We've only won $100-$200 payouts at the slots, but we don't play very much to begin with which just makes it that much harder to win!

Amarones are awesome, I just went to a party last night and brought a bottle of my just year old RJS EP Amarone and it was loved by everyone along with a RJS Cellar Classic Winery Series Cab Sauv which also was a big hit!
