Zinfandel vs Cabernet Sauvignon

I’ve made a few barrels of Zin and the same with Cabernet. If I had a macrobin of excellent Cab and Zin grapes in front of me, I’d pick the Cab. If the grapes were marginal, I’d pick the Zin. I think the Zin is more forgiving and easier to make.
 
If I were forced to choose, I’d make Cabernet and enjoy drinking Turley Zinfandels, best of both worlds!

Love Turley Zins. My wife thinks they’re too big (like cough medicine), but they’re right in my wheelhouse.

Both grapes are readily available - either in the fall from California or in the Spring from Chile. Make both if you can. Bottle them alone or in a blend, you can’t go wrong.
