I notice that some mead recipes list honey by weight and some list by volume. The grocery store honey lists by weight (mostly), but the jars of local I have available have no weight listed. I found this chart that helped me out so I'm sharing it here. I realize that the density of the honey would figure in, but I think it's close enough for our purposes. Any comments?

Just copied and pasted that into a excel sheet to save with some of my
other wine calcs. Thanks as I plan on making some more meads this year
and sure to need this eventually

Looks good to me and most times when buying honey by bulk it will be by the pound and the standard is 1 gallon = 12 lbs.

I make quite a bit of mead and I typically use 1 qt/3.2 lbs per gallon of mead in most recipes (2 lbs for a mead that can generally be consumed earlier). When I first started making mead I was always confused by the weights as well. I know honey weights vary somewhat but 3 lbs per qt is a good rule of thumbthough one should always usea hydrometer to verify SG.
