i fermented a riesling

well i followed the instructions in the kit. step 3 after degassing i
added metabisulphate, kieselsol, and chitosan as directed. the wine is clear and
ready to bottle, just a little dryer than i wanted.



now it says i can sweeten, but to use a conditioner, i dont have a store bought conditioner.


The instructions say "only when sweetening your wine should you add "Sorbate" after sweetening, proceed to bottling"



so if i want to sweeten i should add sorbate and disolved sugar solution



if so how much sorbate for 5 ga?
do i have to wait after adding the sorbate before adding sugar?

i like semi-sweet rieslings and want this one to come out good.
 
If you just did step 3 I think it said to wqaid a week so it clears more. Just beacuse you think its clear may not be true. You cant rush winemaking. Is this your 1st kit?


We just had a discussion on using wine conditioner. Be careful!
It would be better if you made some simple syrup. The wine conditioner leaves you with a cough medicine taste if you are not careful.
In your kit I am sure you had sorbate to be added so you should be safe.

it has been clearing for 6 days now, its crystal clear

no sorbate in the kit, but i have some i bought for my next fruit wine

i dont want to use a wine conditioner (read the posts on it)

want to prepare a simple syrup, just want to make sure i do it right, please help

i only added meta-sulphate after fementing

i dont want the bottles to explode if i add sugar to sweeten it up

can i just add the syrup or should i add some sobate? if so how much?
i have been looking/posting all day today and still cant find the answer
help?

You must add sorbate (see what your bottle says for measurements for 6 gallon) BEFORE sweetening. Make sure its mixed.

Simple syrup is a 2 to one mix 2 sugar to 1part water

Add slowly to your wine and mix well.

ok thanks...i was looking so hard online i didnt even think of looking on the package of sorbate. it was right infront of me all along

1/2 tsp per gallon right???
