I have been pondering this product....

Picked up a bottle of Glycerin USP today and have read you can add it to wine for smoothness....

Any comments????

I used it years ago. It takes a young harsh wine and makes it taste like it has aged a bit. So, in that respect, it does work.

HOWEVER, after about 6 months in the bottle, it takes on a bitter aspect, and a chemically taste that is not pleasant one bit. It was one of the few times that I had to pour it all down the drain. Usually, I'd consider distilling it and making my own "tractor fuel", but if there was any risk of that taste, it would ruin the fuel as well. I tried it on 2 different wine batches and it did the same to both

I would say definitely the glycerin. I sweetened once with a conditioner that had glycerin in it. It ruined the wine to me. Others didn't taste it, but I couldn't stomach it. Had a metalic taste to me.
