A few of my Shiraz drinking friends have recently converted over to the newly trendy Malbec commercial wines for its fruit forward taste. Most of them drink wine as a social cocktail moreso than with meals.

Then came across this great review of the Renaissance Malbec kit quality blog:

"...About 14 months ago, a good friend of mine uncorked a bottle of wine he
had made from a kit. It was wonderful! A Malbec - rich, dark and
plummy. I asked him who supplied this juice and he promised me he’d
pick me up a kit from his supplier. A few weeks later, I had a 16 liter
juice kit from Mosti Mondiale in their “Rennaissance” line."

Another kit added to our to do list...

I didi the limited edition RJS Malbec from 2006 and it too was awesome.

I just sampled one of these from my customer and I was very impressed. I was not a huge malbec fan until I tasted his. It will definitely go on the list to make.

Update: At 27 months the Renaissance Malbec is wonderful
and has now developed a definite commercial Malbec-ish tannin pucker finish
with nice plummy fruit and spice hints. We took this to a social
gathering and it was a big hit for its smooth complexity. As it breathed
over time 1-2 hours it really seemed to keep opening up more and more flavors
compared to other wines.

Younger(one yearish) this was more fruity and popular as a cocktail. With age it has developed more into something special now as we had not tried it in a long time.

Had tried some pricey commercial Malbec's with far higher tannin levels that were
nice for one glass but not as good(overly tannic) or balanced as this kit.

All the wine was poured through a clone Vinitari wine aerator which
dramatically speeds up opening the flavors.
