I definitely lived this. The treehouse saved us. Mom was too short even with the stick. Tempers cooled after awhile in the tree and for reasons unexplained, dad did not hit us when he got home.

I was a general contractor and high end cabinet maker. Some furniture too. I built my own house, 90% of it alone. The only part contracted out was heat\cooling. I had help putting the roof on. It took me 3 years and I built 2 other homes at the same time (2 man crew, + subs for those).
The hardest part was putting up 12' sheets of 5\8" drywall on a vaulted ceiling! Yes I used a jack, but you have to put them on the jack and it is higher than normal because it had an extension for the 12' high ceilings. 20 years ago....I was only 59 then and in fairly good shape!
