Hi all. I am finally coming out, since the guilt I am building by lurking around this website is becoming overwhelming (ok - approx. 4 months I have been watching and not posting)
First I would like to let you all know how extremely helpful this forum has been. Every question I have had, I have been able to find an answer for by searching around here. It is so exciting to have all of this information at my fingertips, as well as the opportunity to get to know you all a little better.

You all talk about this obsession of winemaking. I need to tell you that my husband has been describing my new found hobby as follows - "you are like a guy addicted to porn. Get off the computer"

what I have made so far:
bottled - IM Green Apple Riesling
carboy - IM Blueberry Pinot Noir
Triple Berry Skeeter Pee

Also, we brew beer, so we have made several different types, the most recent being an Oktoberfest, and ready for bottling we have "Caribou Slobber"

Anyway, Thank you all for fueling what is my new passion.
 
Dianna, you're the first one that made me laugh at an introduction. Welcome to the obsession, it's a great hobby and we look forward to hearing from you.

Dianna, I have to ask, What is Caribou Slobber?

Caribou Slobber is an American Brown Ale. Get a load of this: "Dense layers of malt, caramel, baking chocolate, and a hint of light roasted coffee"

Sounds so yummy I am drooling..... We are bottling it this weekend.

On deck for beer - Speckled Heifer - a wheat beer.

Brewing beer is a lot of fun too, and what made me start wondering about wine. Now I love both. Hubby and I may end up divorced over who gets empty carboys for next batch.

"Caribou Slobber" if your husband only knew what kind of porn you were looking at, and I see you're back on the computer again. :)

Dianna, I'm at about the same level of experience as you and do my Winemaking north of Boston. I'm interested in meeting up with other winemakers in the area to help each other along by sharing stories, recipes and winemaking tricks. Are you within range to meet up (there's a great wine shop in North Andover with free tastings every Saturday)? Also, let me know if you are aware of any others in the general area who might be interested in starting a group.

Baccus, it is nice to make your acquaintance. I would love to meet and exchange, however my schedule is pretty crazy as I work 2 jobs, and it would be hard for me to head off on a wine adventure like this. The store that you mention is a 2 hour drive one way :( I think to start I would love to share via this site or some other venue. then we could work on a 1/2 way point between where you are and where I am. I am new enough that I only know of one other winemaker in the area so far. I need to get him on this forum to start. I will definitely keep my ears open and looking forward to more communication with you.
you can start by letting me know what you have made so far and is it drinkable yet? Do you like it?
I love the IM Green apple Reisling and I just tried the IM blueberry Pinot noir I made for the first time this weekend - that is a winner as well.
