I hope you all don't mind me posting this in two places to getQuicker hit. I have a batch of Merlot (VR kit) ready to bottle. I used a fast flow bottle filler and Several of the bottles foamed up at the top. I thought it would settle out but so far it has not. Will it hurt to go ahead and cork it??

Hi Lynn - Sure sounds like there is still residual CO2. If it was air caught
up during rapid filling, seems like that would disperse quickly. Slowly fill
a bottle half full, shake gently with your thumb over the neck and listen/
feel for pressure release. If it is there, degas well before continuing with
bottling.

Depending upon how long ago you stabilized the kit, you might need to
add more metabisulfite before stirring.

Lynn,

I have found it is very common for wine to foam up when you fill some bottles and as long as you have the proper liquid level it is ok to cork and the foam will dissipate over time.

Did you cork and bottle all of it or did yo have the mandatory tasting as you
went?

I tend to overfill each bottle a little and then pour any excess into a glass.
That way I can get coser to the right level.also end up with a couple of
glasses during the process
