Leaky cork

I went to grab a bottle of DB that I bottled last weekend and noticed some leakage on the cork. Is this ok? What causes this? After corking, I left the bottles standing upright for 24 hours and then laid them on their sides.

Wow, that is surprising! What grade corks were they? It is only this one bottle, right?

Number 8 or number 9 corks? #9 should compress a bit more to prevent that if you had used #8.

It's an Agglomerate cork...i think I remember it saying it was "first quality" or premium quality...i don't recall the package and yes, I only saw it on one of the bottles.

I would suggest pulling the cork to see if it started to re-ferment. If not stand them upright for a full week prior to putting them on their side.

They were #9 and that bottle was the only one it happened to, so I opened it and drank it. I'll keep a close eye on the others. Thanks all.
