Got to meet the Smurfe man yesterday. We were finally able to hook up and brew a beer together. He actually did all the work. I mostly observed and questioned. Thanks for all the info and everything else you hooked me up with.........

I think I'll get a hefeweizen going for my first all grain brew on Tuesday............ Sounds like a good one to start with...

Mmmmmmmm.

Now that sounds good for those HOT summer days I'll be seeing soon.

Who has a tried and TASTED recipe for a AG one?

How did you like his brew sculpture?

That Sabco Brew Magic was pretty cool. Very intimidating for an amateur like me, but I liked the way it worked. I look forward to learning a lot more from the all grain perspective.

It came out great despite me having a problem with lautering due to it being the first time using my mashtun and not using enough rice hulls for the wheat bll and clogging up pretty bad. I was getting ready to blast the dang cooler with a bird shot load in my 12 gauge and just throw a big funnel under the cooler.:) Thats awesome that you 2 could get together and that system smurfe has looks awesome! Im still a little new at AG and need to get Beersmith which can really help you figure things out like the right style and getting a better hold of your system with efficiency and boil off times and stuff.

Don't let him fool ya, I put him to work. He actually saved the batch when I had a hose collapse during circulation from not opening a valve far enough and noticed the temps had dropped on the mash. He also crushed my grain by hand cranking. I took the drill off my mill to try out the hand crank. Now we just need to schedule a time we can get together at your place and brew on the cooler set up I passed along. It is a really nice system and your gonna love it.

Oh yeah I did do something besides observe. I forgot about the hose collapse.

I'll have to get some grub on the UDS when you do come out. Thanks again for a great learning experience.

Yepper............ Was going to start my first all grain today, but I think I will hold off until the weekend. I'll have more time to relax and not be rushed. I have to work tomorrow and today I'm going to try to bottle up my blueberry wine from last season........
