I am making a chilean cabernet the instructions say that if i have it (f pack) to add it followed by chitosan my kit came without a f pack but i recieved the chitosan. when do i use the chitosan if at all? Edited by: redlover
If it does not have an F-pack then you proceed with the fining agent(Chitosan). If it had an F-Pack then you would add that 1st followed by the fining agent.
I haven't completed a kit yet, but I believe chitosan is a fining agent to help you clarify your wine. I think you add this after your fermentation has completed in the carboy. Do the instructions indicate any sort of timeline as for when to add the chitosan?
The directions for WE kits are kind of generic. Your kit will not have an F Pack. Add the stabilizers, degass, add the clearing agent, degass. You will want to add the clearing agent packet. Use everything that came with your kit.
