I started this kit lastnight...and I am a little worried. It has been roughly 24 hours and im not seeing any signs of fermentation in the airlock.
I cracked the lip and gave it a stir...but not sure if im seeing life in the bucket. I have seen people say it could take a couple days to see fermentation starting...but in my (very limited) experience, I have always started seeing slow bubbles in a matter of hours.
Thoughts?
thanks,
Steve
Patience, Steve. Give it 48 to 72 hours before you worry. It will start just fine.
What yeast is in this one? I'm guessing it's the RC-212. Best you can do is to make your wine comfortable at about 72* +/-.
I guess "Tan Rich" is from Enartis: http://shop-usa.enartis.com/enartis-tan-rich
and "Tannin Riche" is from Scott: http://www.scottlab.com/product-131.aspx
There are technical data sheets for both of these available at the sites I linked.
UGH.....
thank you for the info. I hate that. why does someone just assume that if you asked for Coke, that they can give you a Pepsi instead?!?! he was the owner of the LHBS so im going to ASSUME that he knew what he had was NOT exactly what I was asking for...but instead, he told me "Sure" and put this stuff in my bag. now I have to find a place to buy what I wanted in the first place and order some!
Struggling.
Starsfan as in Dallas Stars?
Morewine is the place to go. They're one of the few authorized to cut Scott Tannins to quantities most suitable to home winemakers.
For what it's worth, I started this same kit on October 10, 2015, finished up at the end of October at .995 and stayed in glass until March 5, 2016. It's been in a barrel since then, I just stole a taste while topping up and I'm quite pleased with it, lightly oaked, delicate fruit, smoothing out pretty nicely, tad short on the finish, but that should improve later. All in all, very nice wine to date.
OK, is THIS the morewine your talking about??? I see that they have Tannin Riche Extra...what is the difference between the two?
