When Degassing with a vacuum pump (schuco 130) when am I done?
smiley1.gif

Should I let it continue to pump holding a vacuum of 22" ... should I let it run till the bubbles stop?

What is, or is there, a "standard" time to complete this task?

I do differently then most as Ill get the vacuum up to 20" and then sut it off and turn the knob all way up which on mine stops any pressure from leaking unless its due to the wine giving up C02. When it can hold at least 16" for a 1/2 hour its done in my book.

I need to get a gauge for my vacuum pump. Any source for these online?

Thanks

Interesting method Wade. I don't know if that would work on mine but I might give it a try and see what happens.

This method is the way anyone with a brake bleeder would do it so I use this method with my electric as well. You have to get the pressure up and then shut off the pump and max the knob.
