Hi:

For those wondering how kit wines compare to commercial bottles. My sister who only drinks "better" commercial bottles brought over a $14CDN 2005 Folonari Valpolicella DOC wine which was not nearly as good in her opinion as the two year old Cellar Classic Valpolicella. The group consensus was this kit wine had much more body and flavor, clearly the favorite with everyone.

Canada Prices: BC $13.49

Quebec SAQ $14.35

Also, my 2004 Cellar Classic Shiraz blew away the fancy $25 commercial Pinot Noir at Thanksgiving this year as well. In my experience the 15L+ red kits need to age around two years before they evolve into good wine. The best reds I ever made were not good for over a year then magically transformed with aging into exceptionally good wine.

Fantastic! I love hearing reviews like this! Where in Canada are you from?

I have made 5 Cellar Classic Kits so far, a year ago I made the Super Tuscan and it got some good aging and my new girl, Rita, likes reds and thinks the Super Tuscan is fantastic, there a a few bottles stashed but just about gone, I have just bottled a new Super Tuscan and Old Vines Zinfandel, have a Cellar Classic Valpolicella and Cabernet Suavignon in the carboys ready to be bottled. For fast drinking reds I have made Vino-Del-Vida Pinot Nour and Zinfandel and she likes them.

I have the Cru Select Valpolicella w?skins in Bulk now for about 3 months, a Cellar Classic Winery Series Rosso Grande Excellente(18 Liter w/skins) started and A Cellar Classic Winery Series Super Tuscan (18 Liter w/skins) in line waiting for RJS to email me back as it was missing the grape pack andI just bottled their Limited Edition Cru Select Chilean Malbec.

Wow! US$7 compared to CD$14.35 for the Folonari!

Now you see how the kit wine industry started in British Columbia, Canada! I get so sad when I see our prices compared to prices in the USA.
