Found this RJ Spagnols related website http://www.urbanreservewine.ca/urban_reserve_varietal.html listing a number of RJ Spagnols kits with their commercial equivalents and detailed tasting notes:

1. At the LCBO, you’ve probably picked up or sampled either Wolf Blass or Banrock Station. You can make your own with our Cru Select Australian Chardonnay.
2. Commercial Pinot Grigio / Pinot Gris wines include Inniskillin Varietal Series Pinot Grigio or even Voga Pinot Grigio. If you’re looking to make it yourself, try Cellar Classic Italian Pinot Grigio.
3. Making your own? Try En Primeur New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, or pick up a bottle of Oyster Bay 05/06 Sauvignon Blanc or Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc.
4. En Primeur Rheingau Riesling. If not, commercial benchmarks include the Jackson Triggs Proprietors Reserve Dry Riesling or Riesling QBA Mosseland Ars Vitis 06/07.
5. If you’re looking to make Merlot at home, pick up our En Primeur Chilean Merlot. In-store options are Casa La Joya Reserve Merlot or Jackson Triggs Proprietors Reserve Merlot.
6. You can find Banrock Station Shiraz or Penfold’s Shiraz – Koonunga Hill in-store, or make your own Shiraz using En Primeur Australian Shiraz.
7. If you’re looking to make your own, a good kit is the Cru Select Chilean Malbec. It can be bought in-store under Casa La Joya Reserve Malbec or Panul Reserve Malbec.
