Hi I'm new to forum and have never made wine so I have a very minimal understanding.

I'm trying to find out if anyone has ever had trouble using grapes that have black rot on them. We have lost most of the grapes off the vine but some are still remaining. Would the fungus have any negative effects on its wine making hypothetically speaking?

Any previous experience would be very much appreciated.:sm

Black rot has devastated many vines this year throughout the US. I lost all of my grapes on my arbor the last 3 years. Working on a spray program but 3 weeks of everyday rain, high humidity and 95 plus degrees doesn't help.

There is a spray program. I'll let another member know and post info here for you.

we tried using the spray but unfortunatly the rot came back. with the few grapes that remain though I am really questioning if they can be used for anything. they seem to taste just fine.

Sort out the mummies and the rest of the grapes should be alright. You don't want a lot of the infected berries in the wine as it can affect the flavor of the wine.

Not sure where your located, but here is a plan for a 4 year old plant in the Midwest
