I have 2 wine coolers that each store 50 bottles and are set to a temperature of 56 degrees. However, the coolers are kept in my utility room that doesn't have any heat. In upstate NY, the outside temperature often drops to near zero - and the temp in the utility room can get very cold.

Question - is the wine cooler very affected by the room temperature or does it keep to it's 56 degrees. Does the double glass pane of the cooler protect it?
Or should I bring in a portable heater to keep up the room temp?

Thanks.

If that room goes below 56 for an extended period, the temp inside that cooler will eventually follow. How long that would take is subject to several variables though.

i believe the manual on the wine cooler will identify the ideal ambient temp conditions. the operation of the cooler may be in jeopardy if the ambient get to low let alone the cold seepage into the cooler.

I agree with Boatboy and Salcoco and would like to add from my limited knowledge of wine coolers they do not have any type of heating element to keep the cooler at the set temperature if the ambient room temperature fall below internal setting.

Heat the room some how or depending on size of room you could divide the room using 3/4 or 1" - 4'x8' panels of rigid foam insulation to save on electric bill of heating element.

Something like a Panel Heater

if you don't go into utility room too often (too cold..but that is where the wine is:h) you could maybe add this programmable outlet thermostat as primary cut off and let the thermal cut off in panel heater be the backup.

or if you have room to install a window unit heat pump

Save the wine and drink in time.
