Hi Joe. About to start mine with MM grape pack. Just in time to see your post, A question: did you measure the SG after F-Pack was mixed in? Just curious to see the difference before and after. Thx.

no, the reason it wasn't going to raise it 1/2% the most more juice then grapes in this one, it rounded out the 6 gallons nicely ,Remember I check my sg at the 5'5 gallon mark at around 13% no turning back.

I have a 2 gal batch of WE Cab working, it's been in the primary for 1 week now. The instructions say leave it be for 15 days.
Can I make and add a blueberry/blackberry reducItion fpac to it now or wait another week to add it to the secondary?

Is there any way to save leftover wine concentrate from a kit?

I am going to make a Fontana wine kit using the tweaks here, but I’d like to make it 6 gallons (because my carboys are all 6). I was thinking I could buy 2 kits and add 1/5 of the second kit to make the batch 6 gallons. Then freeze (or otherwise save) the remaining kit.

Seal it in a vacuum bag,no problem with that just like making an fpac
You need to but 1/5 gallon' vessel and 1/ 3 gallon carboy for your tool box my friend.

I was talked into buying these 6 gallon carboys already. I need to slowly introduce all these purchases to my wife. Trying to figure out how to pull off the All in One pump without sleeping in the spare bedroom.

I understand been there before it takes time to . buy all the tools you need for this craft.Having A 1/3/5/ 6 gallon vessel's allows you to do a variety of proceess in a small space with limited budget, youll get there it takes time, stay the course my friend.

UPDATE THE SANGIOVESE /CHIANTI STARTING TO SLOW DO IN THE FERMENTATION MODE ANOTHER 3 TO 4 DYS SHOULD DO IT...RECAP SO FAR.

Started this same kit 17 Dec. 2017. Went 5.5 gallons and added 2 teaspoons of tannin....that was it on the tweaks. Just sitting in carboy now. Basically done, debating about adding the fining agents and then racking.
We pinched a little bit the other day....tasted very nice for a 40 buck kit!

IT CAN JUST AS WELL AGE IN A BOTTLE....YOU NOTICE I ADDED A MM GRAPE PACK TO MY BLEND,WHAT A DIFFERENCE,,IT ALSO ADDED @20 TO THE OVERALL COST .

Now Joe that gets the question is it better than a sixth dollar kit now?
Where did you get the grapepack??

I have to be honest, won't know until I rack and Degas then let it sit, if all goes according to plan yes it should be deeper in flavor and texture ( body) the grape pack came from M&M out of connectut if I'm incorrect on the name illI repost it for you. Listen maybe I wouldn't do this to every kit but I need to try it and Kate spang for the extra $20. Buy the time she got done with her preiumn Amazon points and gold card points let alone free shipping she bought two kits for $13 now that's amazing. That aside why not that's what Tweeking cheap wine kits is all about. I love repost the grape pack vender for you.

Starting a Fontana Merlot. How's this plan?

Add to the primary:
  • 1 cup oak chips
  • 1 cup currants
  • 1 tbs tannin
When fermentation dies down, add tbs yeast nutrient and energizer.

I'm going to the local fabric warehouse tomorrow to find nylon mesh for making bags to hold the currants and chips. I'm also planning to do mango and banana wines, and need bags for them too.
