Why is it that with every kit I've made, they said not to stir the primary, but every recipe for fruit wine says to stir...??

Basically if there is no fruit in the wine then technically there really is no need to stir it, the only thing that could be said for stirring is to get viable yeast off the bottom and back into suspension.

YEP! they R different.
Fruit wine will have "fruit" either floating (cap) or in a straining bag (cap)
During primary the cap will float on the top and "must" be punched (stired) down 2X a day. that's why.. :d
