Has anyone ever used this product. I have it in my chemical "inventory" from when I brewed before.

Was fairly expensive if I remember correctly. Is an "acid" sanitizer using a chemical name of Dodecylbenzenesulfonic (wow!) Acid. Says it is for "Surface Sanitation".

Only calls for 1 oz. in 5 gallons of water. Pretty strong stuff.

Did do some research on this yesterday. Found an older post, too, where someone else asked the same question.
Susposed to work great for sanitation. Actually is pretty low in overall cost as you only use an ounce per 5 gallons of water! Comes in 8, 16, or 32 oz. bottles (liquid).

I madeakit of White Zinfandel last night and used it. We'll see how it works.

Star San was designed for home beer making and, in my opinion, is not as cost effective as plain old sulfites. The sulfites will work just as well, if not better and do not require the 5 minute soaking time. In addition, a sulfite solution will store for 2-3 months; whereas, the Star San must be prepared everytime it is needed. Lastly, Star San is not a cleaner, so you will need to clean everything first. The Sodium or Potassium Metabisulfite is a better value.
