On my first batch of chard I used Star San sanitiser a no rinse santiser that is used in most commercial brewerys. Will this work? I read on beer forum that it would. When sanitising bottles can I use Star San? I like the idea of not having to rinse. Why do the kits say to sanitize hydrometer and tube? Can you pour wine back into fermenter?

I did some research on Star San and it sounds like it will work fine for sanitizing.

From LD Carlson "A foaming acid anionic sanitizer that penetrates hard-to-see places. No rinse. Does not stain & will not impart odors or off flavors. Five Star products are registered with state health departments & the Federal USDA, FDA & EPA as is appropriate for use in the associated food & beverage industries"

Not sure why more wine makers don't use it...I would like to know!

If you sanitize your equipment then there is no problem pouring your sample back into the fermenter.
