I have been doing some digging into what kind of buckets are the best for fermentation. My local brew shop has buckets that on the bottom say they are made of HDPE. Now my local grocery store sells buckets at half the cost that are also made if HDPE. Is there a difference in quality?

Look at the recycle symbol

But the alcohol will probably get to you before the chemicals leaching out of the plastic

For what it is worth... My primary buckets are #2 and my plastic carboys are #1.

Cool that means I can get lots more primary buckets. Now to start working on more carboys
