Mistake?

Hi,

After degassing, added Kieselsol stirred that in and about 20 minutes later added Chitosan. Will things be okay? The kit's instructions basically say to add the Chitosan 2 days later, but they instructing to paddle stir the batch several times a day for the 2 days. I have already fully degassed the wine by wine whip attached to a cordless drill, so did not feel the need to wait 2 days before adding the Chitosan. The wine is KR Shiraz.

Are you sure about waiting two days? I always immediately add (maybe after stirring) the Chitosan after the kieselsol

you should be fine. wait at least a week for it to settle, maybe 2...

Yes, add the Chitosan after 2 days, but it's only a kit makers instructions, and they will vary from one manufacturer to another. You seem to do things in the same order as me, and I assume you have not had any problems, so hope I won't have either.

I believe you're okay. All the RJS kits I've done have these instructions...

3. Add Pkg. #2A Sulphite to the wine and stir vigorously.
4. Add Pkg. #2B Potassium Sorbate (please add both
packages) to the wine and stir vigorously.
5. Important: Degas wine vigorously for 5 minutes by stirring
with the handle of a spoon or with a drill mounted stirring
device. INSUFFICIENT STIRRING WILL PREVENT THE WINE
FROM CLEARING ADEQUATELY.
6. Add Packet D1 (Kieselsol) to wine and stir for 1 minute. Then add D2 (Chitosan)
and stir well. Important: Do not reverse the order of Kieselsol
and Chitosan. Degass wine for 5 minutes by stirring vigorously.
