Has anyone tried this. This is what I was thinking of getting with the
gift certificate that was so graciously given to me from Jobe.

When I make the sparkling wine do I need Champagne bottles or are wine bottles fine?

Wade....you have to use Champagne bottles, plastic stoppers and wire hoods.

With New Years Eve approaching put out the word to have people save them for you...or check some dumpsters the next day at places that have parties.

Guess it depends on how **Sparkling** it is and how much presure builds up in the bottles.

Maybe try some of each kind of bottles and see how it goes.

If it is a kit, then thy must have tried it and know how it finishes out...so give it a try.

Keep us posted on this venture.

Okay, I looked at the directions on a search online and you are right
NW. Need pressure glass, champagne tops and wires, and corn sugar. It
says there will be sediment in each bottle. I believe I heard this
being previously discussed at at much earlier time and post. If my
memory is correct I'll have to tip bottle upside down to collect this
sediment in the cap. Am I correct.

You got it!!!!Will be awhile before you have to worry about turning the bottles up side down.

I prime with regular sugar and a package of EC1118, but if you have a kit, it would be best to follow the directions.

Good luck!!!

You do need champagne bottles as regular wine bottles could explode under the pressure of carbonation.

Yes, I just changed my order all around to include the stoppers, hoods
and corn sugar. I have no idea about this sparkling wine and must have
confused Mark when I called the store Sat. Maybe he thought I was
making the still wine.

Mark still has a lot to learn. I left him with the store all to himself on Saturday, which was a first for him. I need him to do more, so I can have some time off. Therefore, he is being baptized by storm.

Wade, is the corn sugar for the sparkling wine? I'm giving that kit (maybe 2 for 6 gallons) serious consideration! The Riesling Ice Wine style is calling me too! =) Would you post the link for the directions you found?

There you go Joan. I wish it tell you how ounces 1 1/4 of corn sugar
is. Can someone answer that for me. I'm not to good at converting stuff
like that. My friend has a 5 oz. packet lefyt over from a beer kit that
he did 3 months ago and used the carbonation pills instead. Would this
be enough?

Thanks, Wade! You're a peach!

Is it me or are those directions difficult to follow on the page?

As for the measurements ...the 1 1/4 cups of corn sugar would be 10 ozs.

Not sure about the ounces to cup measurements of corn sugar....when we primed our beer kits we used 1 3/4 cups corn sugar for 6 gallons

With our **Sparkling** Wine we used 1 3/4 cups regular sugar and 1 package of EC-1118 yeast and get awesome bubbles....

Be sure NOT to stabilize your wine before you prime it...

If you know anyone who works at VFW, Legion Clubs, supper clubs, etc...ask them to save you bottles this weekend if they are going to have parties there....any wedding caterer will also have access to sparkling wine bottles.

There are the Sites we used to make our **Sparkling** Wines...

Yes they are hard. It took me a little bit to figure out myself. Guess
I need a little more Corn Sugar. Thank you for the conversion. Im going
to have to make a riddiling board and search the old posts for the way
to get the sediment out of the caps when I hand a FEW of these bottles
out.

not sure what to do with that post Joan but no havent gotten there yet!
