Hello,

My kit wine has reached its target gravity of 0.995. The lowest I have got from these particular kits has been 0.994. I have to go away for the weekend. Is it worth me leaving the heating belt switched on? The belt is not thermostatic, so is always on.

Thanks in advance.

I personally would unplug it just before leaving for the weekend but then I'm the type that shuts off the water main if no one is going to be in the house for a few days. If this kit is going .001 lower it'd likely do so with whatever the temp is when you unplug.

On the other hand if leaving the belt plugged in doesn't extend into the max continuous days they give for the belt (I think it is 8 days on my instruction sheet) then there should be nothing to worry about if you go that route.

Unplug, and allow yourself to be away without worrying.

Make sure you are topped up and under airlock.
