While very cool, I can see why it did not become a common household item. The true design intent was to separate a fool from his money!

Very Rube Goldberg, loved seeing it. Pretty sure it is a Government design....very expensive, complicated system used to solve a simple problem that really did not exist in the first place.
 
Agreed the mechanical geek in me likes it, but not practical.
By the time it pours a glass;
1 you worked up a sweat from cranking
2 the wine has actually aged a little longer

I like it but sure would like to see all the mechanics involved to make it work.

My son and I made a marble maze when he was in high school. 6' tall about 30" square and it has 5 tracks down. Fun to watch the marble go down.
 
Then the second bottles cork ripped apart and half of it's still stuck in the bottle!
