I just started my first kit and when i went to remove the lid with the airlock in place, it created backpressure and sucked in the K- meta out of the airlock. Is this ok or is the wine contaminated?

What was the concentration of the K-Meta solution? You should be fine. I doubt if you sucked in but a couple drops so the amount of K-Meta shouldn't affect anything in a bad way. Be thankful it had K-meta in it and not bacteria laden water-that would be worse.

I think it would take 21tablespoonsof the solution to equal 1/4 teaspoon k-meta per 6 gallons. 1 gallon = 256 tablespoons

1/4tsp = 1/12 tablespoon

256/12=21 tablespoons
