Anyhow, how many pounds of grapes do I need for ~5 gallons of Zin?

i would go 16-18 pounds per gallon. but every grape is different.

You will need 85 to 90 pounds of grapes to make 5 gallons of wine. You actually need a few more since you will be starting with 5 1/2 to 6 gallons.
