How do you clean your press?

Any advice on cleaning a wine press i inherited from my uncle. I doubt it was ever cleaned.

If you could include pictures, that would be nice. It would be helpful in advising you on how to clean a press If I could get an idea on the current condition of the press.

I agree - most times i just clean it off with warm water and dawn soap.

But if it is old and rusted - my approach would be different...

Be nice to see the condition of the wood too.

Its not horrible ... im sure he washed it down with water but probably not more than that. I was wondering if I should wash it with a sulfite solution or just soap and watch should be fine? What about letting all the wood soak in water for a few days?

k-meta solution is not good with metal - i would not use that - just warm water and soap.

I use a foaming solution that is clorine based. This is only used on juice outside of the winery.
