You can always filter it after back sweetening it - I typically will not back sweeten till about a month prior to bottling or so - That is on a 12-18 month program

Since I already added the potassium can I wait to back sweeten it or do I need to now?

You don't "need to now". Back sweetening can wait. Or, you can do it now. Your choice.
