I have my first MM kit about to be racked after final clearing and
stabilizing. I was not planning to filter before bottling but note the
Mosti instructions do include it but seem to add it as an afterthought.
Anybody skip the filtering? Doesn't that take some of the flavor out?

I would say that filtering a MM kit compared to any other kit has the same effect and almost all evidence supports no stripping of flavor out of the wine.

Personally I don't filter any kit wines since I am happy with the results just letting the fining agents and gravity over time clear the wine.

Judging by the clarity of that carboy I find it not necassry but it
will not hurt it in my opinion, I do use my gravity filter because I
have it and find that I can get more out of each batch as I do
not have to be careful racking since the last bit sitting in top
of the lees(sediment( will not end up in my next carboy or any bottles
if direct bottling from there. I find no loss at all and it comes out
brilliant.

Thanks for the comments.

With the three WE kits I've bottled, each produced a couple of bottles
which were not perfectly clear. I thought to use those for topping up
future batches of similar wines. Does that make sense to you?
