I have a mead thats been in a csrboy for 3 weeks now and is due to be racked this weekend but it has a thin milky like layer on top right under the air lock ?

It smells OK bu t has me worried this is my first mead

I will check SG and rack tomorrow and taste

Should I rack? Or wait? What should I do ?

Oh and more of the white stuff is creeping up the sides of the glass almost like the lees are coming up not down ?

Did you heat your honey before adding to the must and skim off the white froth that rises as it is heated? Did you include any honeycomb? Meads can throw off wax compounds that can float. Or it could be something else..... Is this a straight mead, or a melomel? Spices?

Its straight mead no spices or anything

I did not heat it

It was just raw honey and no comb

I guess it could b wax? If so is this going to be a problem ?
