I was wondering the differences in the decanting effectiveness of the different types. My wife recently got me a traditional style glass decanter like this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002CV90TM/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20
While she was at a brookestone store the guy there tried selling her something similar to this. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T1F5CSU/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20
He told her that's the best thing out and you only need the traditional style if you have a 200 year old bottle of wine! Lol. Just curious what the differences are and what people use if anything.

They both work well and you should really have both IMHO. Agree the traditional style is the best for wines that you have had in your cellar and have thrown some sediment. They also look good on a dinner table with guest. The Vinator is for instant gratification of a young wine. Allows you to pop and pour fast. Not so good if you have sediment in the bottle.
