bulk vs bottle aging

If you bulk age all wine is aged equally.
If you bottle age there might be differences between the bottles although I believe they are minimal if at all.

However 1 bacteria can spoil all your wine, that is when bulk aging.
If bottled one bacteria can only effect that one bottle.

When bottled you will be tempted to drink the wine, in bulk you will not so easily be tempted.

Small volumes are easily affected by temperature changes.
look at a swimming pool: the water might be cold, but in the small puddles next to it the water might already be heated up by the sun.
In a living room there will be not much change in temperature like the sample indicated. However there might be small changes and they will adress a small volume (a bottle) earlier as a large volume (bulk).

There is a firm believe that wines that are bottled age faster as wines in bulk.
One thing that will effect this is the temperature like stated above.

Another thing is that when you bottle your wine it is exposed to air. That will help mature your wine earlier. When in bulk it is (if all is well) not exposed to air, so that will slow down aging.

The all time adagium that corks will seep a bit of air in that will help maturing the wine is now replaced by the believe that the air the wine is exposed to by bottling is the culprit.
