Award Winning Apfelwein Recipe (German Hard Cider)
Ingredients:
5 Gallons 100% Apple Juice (No preservatives or additives) I use Tree Top Apple Juice
2 pounds of dextrose (corn sugar) in one pound bags
1 five gram packet of Montrachet Wine Yeast
(We put 1Tsp of Cinnamon in it also.)
5 Campden tablets Crushed.
5Tsp of Yeast Nutrient
Today we put all juice in 5Gallon bucket left1/2 Gallon out and put into a pan on the stove. Crushed 5 Campden tablets added in the pan. Measured5 Tsp of Yeast Nutrientin pan, and 3Lbs of Brown Sugar. We used 3 Lbs of sugar for a little added kick. Heated all this up made sure it was completely dissolved, then added it to bucket.Added the Cinnamon then stirred it all up. Took a SG reading it was 1.072. Tasted it and OMGI didn't wanna stop.
Tomorrow will stir again then put in Carboyand pitch the yeast to it.We will beputting it in a 6 gallon Carboy. Will post up some pics of that tomorrow.
