Putting a dime in it just gets a dime stuck in your corker!
You rack everything including the lees when you go from primary to secondary. MM actually tells you to do that in its instructions.
You avoid the lees when racking after you have clarified.
 
Joan, I know what you mean, I've thought of pouring it off into a glass and letting it settle outthen s l o w l y pouring it into a wine glass....then letting the rest settle out a little more and....no just kidding on the second settling. And speaking of house plants that last little bit of sediment might be good for my epiphyllums....thanks for the idea

You could get a vinegar culture and use the leftovers to make wine
vinegar. Someone I know does this with his unconsumed wine
(unconsumed

!) He keeps it in a jug and draws out some every now and then. It is quite strong, but tasty.
