Today is the one year anniversary of my wine making obsession.
10/27/2013 the wife brought home a bucket of cab juice(no skins) and announced " We're going to make wine!"

3 more kits and I've progressed to frozen must of pinot noir, chardonnay and chenin blanc.
I also have a peach wine going with the help of Turock.

I've eased into this and tortured myself to have patience with bulk aging.
My very first Cab bucket(1yr) is awesome and my eclipse merlot (10 months) finally tastes "good enough" after nine months. I can't wait to taste it next year!

So a word to the new wine makers, have patience and you will be rewarded!!

Sounds great! What brand of Cabernet bucket was it?
It was Alexander Bros. from California sold at a local grocery store by me.
great flavor at 1 yr...I over oaked it a touch but it still tastes pretty good..I plan on bottling soon.

I may be the first person ever to wait 1yr before bottling the first batch !:a1

Congrats !!

Yes I think you are the first to wait as long as you did - considering I waited only 3 or 4 months the first time I made a red - LOL

3 or 4 months? My first batches were almost completely consumed before that.

Waiting one year on your first batch is impressive! I don't think many people can accomplish that with their first wine. I certainly haven't done that. I'm trying the make so much I couldn't possibly drink it in a year approach this year.
