RJ Spagnols WS Italian Super Tuscan at Bottling

I've made this kit quite a few times as well as the Rosso Grande and recently really like the Valpolicella. It's one of our favorites. My wife and I now call the "Super Tuscan" the "Super Drunk"... One time after drinking a couple bottles on a cold snowy winter day we decided go online and...

    Just do Kits?

I just do kits. I've tried the Skeeter Pee and Dragon's Blood but they're just not my cup of tea.

    So proud! My first wine

That's awesome Tess! I just bottled my summer 2013 Skeeter Pee stash...Your label depicts Skeeter Pee to a tee.

    So proud! My first wine

Wow! Very impressive. I'm anxious to see the label you come up with for your Skeeter Pee... Good job.

Yes, you can! I use them for my skeeter pee. Don't reuse the caps though, buy some 38mm Poly Screw Caps.

    Clearing question

I sure did Arne... If worse comes to worse could I give it another Sparkloid treatment without effecting the flavor? I'm in no big hurry though, I still have enough from my last batch to keep me alive.

    Clearing question

Thanks Scott, I'll give it a go.

    Clearing question

My SP has been clearing very slow (3+ weeks) and still has a ways to go. The question I have is, Could I rack, sweeten, and top off carboy and then let it take it's sweet time to clear? or should sweetening always be done after the wine is clear? My concern is the wine sitting for a long period...

Did I mess up my first batch?

I don't have an answer but was curious if it ever took off or did you pitch new yeast?

    My wine rack

Hey Bob, is that some Soaring Wings cases under the wine bench? Donna saved several cases for me too. I was sad to see her move on. Great set up, thanks for letting me copy some ideas. Mark

    My wine rack

Thanks for the nice comments. No, I didn't dado or put any additional bracing in the back. I thought I might need an X brace in back but after the top was secured on, it really didn't need any.

    My wine rack

Finished up my wine rack. I made it from oak and redwood that I had been saving for years after cleaning out my Dad's house. A Thankyou goes out to everyone else that posted photos on this forum that I copied off of.

    Wine kit brands

My very first wine kit I made was a Grand Cru Malbec. We didn't give it any time to age since it was my first kit but it was good right away. Now, 5 months later, it's really good, and our favorite one so far. I started a "Grand Cru International" Malbec kit last Saturday. I'm anxious to see...

    Wine kit brands

Thanks for the advice! Are you saying there are kits that are not concentrated? I guess I've only noticed concentrated kits. If so, could you recommend a good Malbec "whole juice" kit.

    Wine kit brands

Just wondering what are your favorite brands of wine kits. I'm still new to this and probably haven't had any wine kits age long enough to make a fair comparison but so far I prefer RJ Spagnols Grand Cru kits over Winexpert Selection Series and Vintners Reserve kits...What are your thoughts? Mark

    Tannin mistake

I did the same thing when I was making Lon's 6 gallon recipe. I got confused and put in 3.5 tsp tannin and then realized it should have been 3.5 tsp of nutrient and only 1 tsp tannin:slp. I was able to scoop some of the tannin out that was still floating but I know it has at least double the...

    Corkers

Good to know. I'm sure these first batches won't be around for anywhere near the 2 year mark. I'm not sure what corks came with the wine making kit, but I assume they were #8's because they went in fairly easy. Thanks for the offer Arne... I was just told today that I have unlimited overtime...
