Year on label question

I previously labeled by the year of bottling. I switched in January to month day year. I express it as

2.21.2013

I did it by bottling year and now by month day year to be able to easily keep track of what was what as far as age in the cellar.

At home I always posted the date I bottled. I know commercially the correct date is the year it was harvested. Due to the size of my inventore it really doesn't make any sense to change now and I won't. Knowing what I know now if I was just starting out, I would list the harvest date.
