Lol, many of my friends growing up had to canoe from the street to the dike around their house on certain years

We have been worried about the snow melt this year and how badly it will flood. Duff's Ditch (the Floodway) helps immensely, but sometimes it just isn't enough. Plus it depends on how much snow the States bordering the Red River got as it all comes North to us and Lake Winnipeg.

The Flood of '97 was an interesting time. Google it if you're bored

Ya the flooding has been bad even here, my hens were trying to learn to swim in their coop but they gave up and just squawked loudly on their perches. We finally have it all shoveled out and drained today!
