For a long time I wanted to make wine from raspberries.

But raspberries are not available for the picking here and on the market they cost their weight in gold. So thats no option.

Then I stumbled upon an offer for raspberry jam.

Guess what.
Jam is just fruit and extra sugar.
And what do we need for winemaking........

So the adventure started.

Story to long to be told here so go to my web-log:

The wine was really delicious and I am going to make this more often.
Possibillities enough. Jam is cheap and comes in all kinds of flavors.

I have done peach from jam and a blackberry from jam.

Interesting, so why not!!!
We always enjoy your posts and learn something new from them, Luc.

Julie how did the peach jam come out?

Very good, Sammyk. Actually I replicated the peach butter that my Mom always made, I added some cinnamon, cloves and ginger and called it Jammin Peach Wine.

Now you have me thinking, I need to make another peach wine like that.

Do you think that the jam recipe has more flavor then wine made from fresh fruit? I am going to start my strawberry jam soon. I have 28 pounds of strawberries in the freezer. Wally world had Strawberry jam, Smuckers, 2 pound jars on sale for $2.28 each so I picked up 4 jars, 8 pounds - really cheap. I will use both

Personnally? No, I would prefer fresh fruit over the jam. Using jam is great if you can't get the fresh fruit.
